Amy
Marriage and Family Therapist

My path toward becoming a therapist began 25 years ago as a hospice volunteer — sitting face-to-face with individuals and families navigating terminal illness and end-of-life. Bearing witness and holding space for people in their darkest hour has been a great privilege. That early experience shaped me and ultimately led me to my current work as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I have learned in my work that grief is universal — not only in response to death, but to any significant loss or other major life change: a relationship fracturing, a career that no longer fits, an identity and life in transition. I am dedicated to helping adults, couples and families transform intense emotions and behavioral patterns into clearer thinking and a steadier, more balanced daily life. The therapeutic process invites clients to sit in their discomfort while gently processing what comes to the surface. My most recent clinical work was in community mental health settings with diverse clients who were experiencing mental health disorders and related symptoms, trauma, addiction and relational issues. I meet every client with genuine curiosity, unconditional positive regard, and I create a space where authentic growth can flourish. I tailor treatment to the unique needs of each client, and believe that our therapeutic relationship requires attunement, honest communication, courage, and real collaboration — and I believe that when those conditions exist, change and transformation become possible. I work with adults, couples and families moving through life’s harder seasons — identity shifts, relational rupture, grief, addiction issues and the moments that ask who am I now, what do I want and how can I move forward? My approach draws on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which helps clients understand and identify their feelings to deepen emotional connection, repair bonds and improve communication. I blend Humanistic Psychology, which honors each person’s inherent worth and potential, with mindfulness and somatic practices. I have a special interest and experience with women in midlife — navigating new chapters such as separation and divorce, caring for aging parents, empty nest, career change and midlife reinvention. I draw on my own lived experiences to help guide and support you holistically. My collaborative framework allows clients to restore their connection to their authentic selves and to live full, abundant lives.
